I. Chinese National Standard (GB/T 8263-2018)
The Chinese national standard "High Chromium Cast Iron" (GB/T 8263-2018) divides high chromium cast iron into the following grades, mainly classified according to the content of chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo):
ZG Cr5Mo
Chrome content: about 5%
Suitable for medium wear scenarios, such as small mining equipment.
ZG Cr9Mo
Chrome content: about 9%
Improved wear resistance, used in metallurgical mechanical parts.
ZG Cr15Mo
Chrome content: 15%
High wear resistance, widely used in cement mill liners, crusher hammers and so on.
ZG Cr20Mo
Chrome content: 20%
Corrosion resistance is enhanced, suitable for chemical equipment and wet grinding environment.
ZG Cr26Mo
Chrome content: 26%
Top wear and corrosion resistance for extreme conditions (such as large mining crushers).
II. International standards
United States standard (ASTM A532/A532M-10)
It is divided into 8 grades: ⅱa, ⅱB, ⅱc, ⅲa, ⅲB, ⅲc, ⅳA, ⅳB, which are classified according to the type of carbide and the content of alloy elements, and are suitable for wear-resistant parts of heavy machinery.
European standard (EN 12513-2000)
The grades include XCr13 (13% Cr) and XCrNi18-10 (18% Cr, 10% Ni), which are corrosion resistant and used in chemical and food processing equipment.
3. Composition and performance characteristics
Chrome content range: 11%-30%, high hardness (HRC 55-65), wear resistance is more than 5 times that of ordinary cast iron.
Alloy elements: molybdenum (Mo) improves hardenability, nickel (Ni) enhances toughness, and carbon (C) forms hard carbides.
Metallography: mainly consists of eutectic carbides and martensite to ensure high wear resistance and impact resistance.
Industry Application Specification (JC/T 691-2022)
The building materials industry standard "High Chromium Cast Iron Liner" (JC/T 691-2022) further standardizes the technical requirements of liner:
Material requirements: clear chemical composition, hardness (HRC 58 or more) and metallographic structure (uniform distribution of carbides).
Application: wear-resistant liners are specially used for cement and mining equipment, such as ball mill cylinder liner.
V. Selection suggestions
High impact condition: ZG Cr26Mo or ASTM ⅢC class high chromium cast iron is preferred.
Corrosive environment: Select European grade containing nickel (such as XCrNi18-10) or ZG Cr20Mo.
